Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (IATA: CKG) is a hub in the southwest region, located approximately 22-25 kilometers from the city center. T2 mainly serves domestic flights, while T3 serves international and some domestic flights. There is a free shuttle bus and subway connection between the two floors.
Subway (highly recommended)
- Starting from T3: take Rail Transit Line 10 to Hongtudi Station, transfer to Line 6 (in the direction of Chayuan) to Xiaoshizi Station, and walk about 5 minutes to Monument to the people's Liberation/Hongyadong.
- Starting from T2: Take Metro Line 3 directly to Lianglukou, Guanyin Bridge and other directions, and it takes about 50 minutes to reach the core area.
- Ticket price: approximately 5-8 yuan; The first train departs around 6:30 and the last train departs around 23:00. During peak hours, trains depart every 5-8 minutes.
Airport Bus K01
Route: Airport → Monument to the people's Liberation (Cathay Pacific Plaza), fare15 yuan, about an hour's drive, operation about 6:30 to late at night, suitable for the subway to arrive after the shift.
Taxi/ride hailing service
- It's about 50 to 90 yuan to Monument to the people's Liberation/Hongya Cave, about 40 minutes' drive (depending on the road conditions).
- Please go to the designated taxi waiting area or ride hailing boarding area in the terminal building, and use apps such as Didi to call a taxi with transparent prices.
What about red eye flights
Late night arrivals can be taken by airport shuttle bus or taxi/ride hailing service; T3 has a 24-hour rest area, and you can also stay nearby for one night before entering the city.
Avoiding pitfalls
- Identify the official taxi waiting spot and do not board unlicensed taxis.
- Pay attention to the last departure time of the subway to avoid delays; Transfer to T2/T3 and take the free shuttle or subway.
- Chongqing is built along the mountains, and after leaving the station, one may have to climb many steps to reserve energy.
